THE PLANNED SITE IN BATH FOR THE MEMORIAL TO

COMMEMORATE THE LIFE OF ADMIRAL ARTHUR PHILLIP RN

IN 2014

A fitting memorial tribute to Admiral Phillip is planned to be located in the grounds of the Assembly Rooms in Bath:

In consultation with the National Trust, which owns the building, Bath and North East Somerset Council has identified a fine and most appropriate site almost directly opposite the house Phillip owned and lived in with his wife Isabella. The completed memorial will reflect Admiral Phillip's importance as a visionary British Governor, leader, mariner, patriot, hero and the founder of Australia. Completion is planned for July 2014.

Funding will be needed to do justice both to the Admiral and to the site. A suitable memorial will become a focus for the site, for Bath residents and for visitors from Australia. City Authorities and National Trust have indicated agreement in principle for a memorial on the splendid site. The site is approximately 31'x16'.

More information will be available in 2012. However to pledge your support for this important monument, please contact: The Britain-Australia Society West Country Branch aap@britozwest.org.uk.
